Sturdy but unobtrusive
For its impressive bass response able to support up to five “mighty midget” 6010A’s, the 5040A looks almost modest. Its understated Nordic Cool lines created by designer Harri Koskinen in co-operation with Genelec’s own R&D staff tell little of the power within. Waiting calmly in its own corner, the 5040A (6.3 kg / 13.9 lb, height 251 mm / 9 7/8”, diameter 305
mm / 12”) stands by to deliver its punch.
Integrated amplifier
The 40 Watt integrated amplifier powering the downward firing magnetically shielded 6 1/2” bass driver is carefully designed to push the driver all the way to its limit, but not further. Overload protection circuits protect both the amplifier and driver against overheating.
Connectors and Controls
The built-in crossover unit features six RCA input connectors for five main channels and one LFE channel and five RCA output connectors for the 6010A loudspeakers. The main channels have a fixed high pass filter. In addition to the RCA connectors, a 3.5 mm stereo jack input connector is provided for convenient connection to portable audio players or computers.
Acoustic output
The 5040A features a magnetically shielded downward firing 6 1/2” bass driver attached to a die-cast aluminium base plate. The 5040A packs a respectable punch of 96 dB maximum sound pressure level. The frequency response reaches from 35 Hz to 85 Hz with less than ±3 dB
deviation. Every 5040A is calibrated and tested at the Genelec factory in Iisalmi, Finland. |
